Live Performance by Mella Jaarsma
Art Expo Malaysia 2019 (Hall B)
10 October 2019, 8.00pm-10.00pm

About Mella Jaarsma
The artist has become known for her complex costume installations and her focus on questions of cultural and racial diversity, which are often embedded within our clothing, our bodies and our food. In this series of works, Mella Jaarsma again returns to her practice of highlighting how clothing can reveal insights into our sense of social space, by playing with layers of material, and themes of sartorial inhibition as well as the subconscious cultural dimensions of housing and architecture. The artist often presents her works in public with them being worn by models. Dicabut is a commentary on the decline of cultural diversity.

Luke Heng Solo Exhibition AL/linum
Luke Heng (b. 1987, Singapore) is interested in the dialectics between painting, object, and picture-making. His earlier practice revolves around the conceptualization and physical manifestation of painting, with his works often responding to the history of painting while drawing from various other art forms to influence his approach and process. His most recent practice extends into installation and sculpture, while he introduces depth and perspective into his new oil on linen paintings. Heng graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2013, which he attended on a scholarship, and he has since been actively practicing art both locally and internationally.
